Room and lodge was Beautiful. Pool and hot tubs are very nice. The restaurant was a nightmare, we weren't seated until 20 min after our reservation. After waiting 40 minutes I was told two of the items that made my meal were unavailable and to choose something else. Everything took a long time to come out and was dry and cool like it had been sitting done for a while before it came out. Dinner was expensive for the quality. They brought out my salad with chicken, I did not order the chicken but ate it anyway as I'd been waiting so long I was hungry. Then the burger came out and the bun was so toasted it had a level of crouton consistency and was hard like it was stale. I will come back to the lodge, but never to the restaurant. Please hire more experienced wait staff and kitchen staff.
My husband and I took a trip to Hocking Hills for a small weekend getaway to enjoy some hiking and relaxing. We chose to stay at the lodge as I saw it was newly built and had a pool! How great to have a swim after a long day of hiking! We were not disappointed with how nice the lodge was. It was gorgeous inside with a nice stone lobby and so many cool outdoor seating areas. The room was nice as well, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool of course and liked having direct access down to the trails in the rear of the building that was part of a large loop up to Old Mans Cave. We ate in the restaurant both nights and were mostly pleased - that’ll be another review. Overall the place did not lack in itself. We did notice there did not seem to be too much staff around or maintenance keeping up with things. Some of the outdoor seating was left in disarray and not really cleaned up and ready to enjoy. The back patio facing the woods was very nice with plenty of seating and fire pits but it was a mess and they do not provide fire wood or light the fires they sell you wood to light your own which we did not purchase. I understand it’s hard to keep staff but getting some more employees in there to take care of such a nice place will go a long way.
Such a beautiful lodge! Had an amazing stay with family for the October weekend to hike and explore. Was surprised we could hike from the lodge straight to whispering cave which then connects to old man's cave area! Had a great dinner and breakfast in the restaurant inside and many cute souvenirs in the gift shop. Very clean, industrial, friendly and happy place! Would love to come back and highly recommend!
The Lodge is beautiful inside and out. However, heat in the winter seems too sparse to meet customary comfort expectations. We arrived at our room and found the temp to be 59 degrees and after 2 hours of running full blast the temp increased 4 degrees. We requested a different room and arrived at that room to find the heat was turned off and was even colder than the room we left. We discussed the issue with the front desk and then the manager and they seemed to be unable to do anything about it. We decided to return home, so they gave us a refund but seemed unapologetic about ruining our weekend get-a-way!
This is not just a facilities issue but a management issue. Given the heating systems in the rooms, they would rather pinch some pennies knowing full well that it will compromise the comfort of their guests. The quality of the management does not match the quality of the Lodge itself!
First time staying at this new lodge in hocking hills. It was very nice, very modern decor inside and in the rooms and the room almost felt like a holiday inn suite or something rather than a lodge. I prefer the older lodges that were built in the 70s like Deer Creek and Salt Fork as I appreciate the more traditional and rustic atmosphere. That's not necessarily a knock against this lodge it's just my personal preference. Pool and indoor and outdoor hot tubs operating during winter was definitely a bonus! Really appreciated that. Wait staff in the restaurant was great and friendly. Dinner options were OK, breakfast was excellent though. I checked out the fitness room as I am a bodybuilder. I didn't utilize the fitness room on this brief trip but would like to see this lodge add more options. It looked like they only had one flat bench, a few dumbells, and 3 cardio options. I'd like to see them add a multi option weight lifting machine station with lat pull downs, machine shoulder/bench press, leg press, and additions for cable press downs and bicep Curls. This could easily be done by removing one of the cardio options. It's hocking hills people get out and hike some beautiful trails for cardio! All in all though it was a nice place to stay for a trip. Really I have nothing bad to say . It is just the things I mentioned due to my own personal preference. Would like to experience the lodge in warmer weather months so may have to repeat to make use of the outdoor pool and other amenities . PS: my only gripe is what happened to complimentary coffee stations? I'm pretty sure Deer Creek and Salt Fork offered free coffee at stations set up at a couple places around the lodge. Sad that this lodge did not offer complimentary coffee outside of what little is available from the tiny coffee maker in the room. Bring back complimentary coffee for your guests.
Stayed in a cabin. No frills so don't expect anything above very basics. The cabin stunk like a skunk. The TV quality, picture and volume, were terrible. The mattresses were terrible as was the couch that had a burnt spot or something. Some of the floor tiles were broken when we got there. The lodge was nice. That's all I got.
This is a great place to stay. The Lodge is new and very modern. The beds in the rooms are nice. Service was friendly and efficient. I have both an indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub. They also have two fireplaces in the main entrance area that you can enjoy. We enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed Labor Day at the Lodge and had a wonderful time. Both the indoor and outdoor pools hot tubs were clean. Plenty of seating and the food was amazing. You have to make reservations for the restaurant. However, the drinks at the bar are overpriced. We will definitely be back. Just minutes away from Whispering Cave Trail and not too far of a hike to Old Man’s Cave.
